Find the best Home Energy deal for you

During the process of finding the best Electricity, Gas or Duel Fuel deal for you, you’ll be able to compare your current tariff to the entire market. This is because we don’t hide any tariffs, allowing you to do a ‘whole of the market’ price comparison. In doing this you will be able to see the best deal for you based upon your energy usage and your region.

Importantly you will see exactly how much you could save before deciding whether to switch and our whole of the market comparison engine will also show you all of the other alternatives.

I am on a fixed-term contract with another supplier.
Can I switch?

Yes – you can always leave your current contract.
If you’re within 49 days of the end of your fixed term contract with exit fees you can switch WITHOUT having to pay any exit fees.
If before then, you may incur exit fees (usually about £30 per fuel) which you should check with your supplier. If your know your current tariff then the exit fee will be shown within the comparison. Even if you do have an exit fee, it may still be worth switching to a cheaper supplier!

I only recently switched – can I take a new deal?

Yes – if you switched less than 14 days ago, then you are within the “cooling-off” period and you can switch without incurring exit fees. You will have to cancel your previous switch first, though!

If it has been longer than that, then you may well incur exit fees if you’re on a fixed-term tariff (usually about £30 per fuel) which you should check with your supplier. Many of the offers currently available are so low that it may well be cheaper to switch even with exit fees.

I rent my home, can I switch to a new deal?

Yes, if you pay the bill directly then you can always switch your energy supplier.
I’m worried that my power will run out during the changeover – can this happen?
No! There will be no interruption to your electricity or gas supply during the switching process.

You not only need to be careful not to be too late in sending your termination, but you also need to be careful not to send your termination notice too early! Double check this to avoid your application being declined.

How do I switch my Home Energy provider?

We’ve made the whole switching process as simple as we can. To get started just go to our Home Energy Price Comparison site at www.powerandgas.co.uk, select the energy that you want to compare and input your postcode and email address. Once you have added some basic information about your current energy supplier and energy use you will then see how much you could save. The comparison process is very quick and simple but it’s always useful to have a bill available for this, Electricity, Gas or Duel Fuel. Even at this stage there is no obligation to proceed and if you don’t think the savings are enough or you want to consider other offers then you don’t have to proceed.

To complete your switch simply enter your Direct Debit details and let us take care of the rest.

Don’t worry at all – there is a 14 day cooling off period from the day you apply, so you can cancel during that period if you wish to.

My current tariff is about to end. Can I still switch?

Yes. Once your current plan ends, you will most likely be moved onto a standard tariff which you can immediately terminate as it will have no exit fees, In fact, you can terminate it at no cost to yourself – no exit fees – anytime 49 days before it ends.

Does it matter where I live?

You will only see deals that are available in your region of England, Scotland and Wales. The cost of the deals offered does depend on the region of the country you live in. Hence, why you get a whole of market comparison before you decide whether to switch which tells you exactly how much you will personally save.

Unfortunately, our deals on Mains Gas, Electricity, Dual Fuel and LPG are not available for customers in Northern Ireland.

Will an engineer visit my house to change the meter, cables, and other equipment?

No, no one will have to visit your house or change any equipment at all.

It is very rare, but if your energy supplier was to go out of business – big or small – your supply will continue and you’ll be looked after by the OFGEM under the Supplier of Last Resort scheme.
